ROCKLIN, Calif. - Jessup is still looking for its first win of the season, as it hosted Vanguard on Saturday morning loss. A 47th-minute goal gave the Lions the victory, and the Warriors fell to 0-4-3 on the season.
Lions freshman Niko Ochoa found the back of the net in the 47th minute, one of two Vanguard shots on frame. Tyler Miramontes had the other shot on goal for Vanguard, while the Warriors had three shots on target coming from 
Donovan Carrillo, 
Eduardo Guillen, and 
Iven Flores. 
As Ben Seiber slotted it in, Vanguard nearly added a second goal in the 51st minute, but it was ruled offside. Jessup sophomore goalkeeper 
Maxx Willard made one save while opposing goalie Aiden Hay totaled three saves in the contest. 
The story of the game was cautioned, as there were a total of 12 yellow cards handed out and two ejections for the Lions. 
The first red card came from a second yellow assessed to Shaun Im in the 75th minute before Zachary Miramontes earned his second yellow in the 90th minute. Despite being up a man for the final 15 minutes, the Warriors could not capitalize. 
Other Lions to receive cautions included Markus Garcia, Sidney Dina, Connor McCoy, and coach Jesus Miramontes. For Jessup, six players were issued a yellow card, including 
Diego Nunez, 
Tariq Alabi, 
Jalen Scott, 
Luis Cruz, 
Edgar Vega, and Willard. 
The Warriors will get another crack at their first win on Thursday when they host Menlo College at 2 p.m.
