Warriors Welcome New Recruits to the Family

ROCKLIN, CA - The Jessup University women's basketball program is excited to welcome a talented and impactful group of new Warriors for the upcoming season. This incoming class includes a blend of highly accomplished junior college transfers and promising freshmen, each bringing a diverse skill set and a strong record of achievement to the court. With accolades such as state championships, all-conference selections, and team MVP honors, this group is poised to make an immediate contribution as the team embarks on its next season.

Head Coach Corey Laster, proud of his former squad, is looking forward to the new season,  "After graduating 10 seniors who accomplished so much during their time at Jessup, our focus turned to finding new players who are not only great fits for our program but also embody what it means to be a Warrior." He continued, "We're young and have a lot of growth ahead, but we're excited for the challenge and the journey in front of us."

We're proud to welcome the following new athletes to the Warrior Family:

Keyla Cervantes

Cervantes transfers to the team after a two-year collegiate career in the ACCAC. As a sophomore at Glendale Community College, she played in 26 games, starting all 26, and led her team in points, rebounds, steals, and total blocks while averaging 12.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game. Her performance earned her a Second Team All-NJCAA Region 1 selection and a Second Team All-ACCAC DII selection. Her freshman year was spent at Yavapai College, where she averaged 9.3 points and 5.9 rebounds over 10 games. 

Prior to college, the three-year varsity player at Saint John Paul II Catholic High School was a team captain and achieved Conference Champions and Conference Runner-up status. As a senior, she averaged 21.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, earning First Team All-Region, Region Offensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-State, and First Team All-Conference selections. She also competed in track & field in high school.

Claudia Jiménez

Jiménez has transferred to Jessup after a freshman season at Manhattan University. She appeared in 19 games (making 1 start) and averaged 1.4 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists for a team that reached the MAAC Championship Quarterfinals. She also earned an Academic Award for her efforts. Prior to college, Jiménez was a highly decorated international player. She competed for the Andalusian National Team and played for LF2 CB Sevilla Femenino, where she was part of the squad that were Spanish Champions and Spanish Runner-ups. She also played for Club Dos Hermanas and Club Náutico Sevilla, winning 5x Sevilla Champions and an Andalucía Champions title. She graduated from Highlands School Sevilla in '24. 

Personally, Jiménez plans to play professional basketball after college, enjoys playing pickleball and watching movies, and her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 91.

Aniah Cross

Cross joins the Warriors for her freshman season following a stellar four-year varsity career at Kingwood Park High School ('25). As a senior, she averaged an impressive 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game.Throughout her high school career, she was a 3x 5A State Qualifier and earned significant accolades, including District MVP, District Offensive Player of the Year, and a 4x First Team All-District selection.Personally, Cross plans to become an equine veterinarian. 

She enjoys reading, listening to music, and serving in her home church. Her favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 6:10-11.

Personally, Nicolas plans to pursue a career in pharmaceuticals. She enjoys working out, going on hikes, reading, and exploring new places. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 5:38-42.

Hannah Shaver

Shaver joins the Warriors for her freshman season after a successful four-year varsity career at Desert Christian Academy ('25). During high school, she was a 2x League MVP and a 3x All-CIF selection. Shaver led her team to 3x League Champions titles, secured 5AA Section Runner-ups, and qualified for the State and Section tournaments multiple times (DV State Qualifiers; 4x Section Qualifiers). She was also recognized as a 2x Team Captain and earned both KESQ Student Athlete of the Week and Desert Sun Athlete of the Week honors.

Personally, Shaver also competed in varsity softball and volleyball in high school. She plans to become an elementary school teacher and enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the beach. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:18.

Mirella Boshell-Fernandes

Boshell-Fernandes joins the Warriors for her freshman season after graduating from McMath Secondary School ('25). Prior to college, she was a multi-sport athlete who also competed in varsity volleyball in high school.

Porter Wood

Wood joins the Warriors for her freshman season after a four-year varsity career at Eagle High School ('25). As a senior, she averaged 10.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. She was a key player for a program that finished as 3A State Runner-ups and also secured a 3A State 3rd Place finish. Wood earned significant recognition, including a First Team All-State selection, a First Team All-State Tournament selection, and a First Team All-Conference selection. She also received Second Team All-Area and Conference Honorable Mention honors. 

Personally, Wood plans to pursue a career in graphic design. She enjoys mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and art. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 7:7-8.

Patricia González

González joins the Warriors after four years of club experience playing for Pureza de María de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. During her club career, she was a member of the Canary Selection team and helped her club qualify for the Spanish Club Championships twice.

Personally, González enjoys learning languages, going to the gym, and reading. Her favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Ella Baumgartner

Baumgartner joins the Warriors after a two-year collegiate career in the NWAC. As a sophomore at Centralia College, she played in all 26 games (starting all 26) and was a dominant force, averaging 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. She led her team to the NWAC Tournament Qualifiers and earned a Second Team All-Western NWAC selection. Her freshman year was spent at Umpqua Community College, where she helped the team achieve NWAC Runner-up status, averaging 2.6 points over 30 games.

Prior to college, Baumgartner was a four-year varsity player at Central Kitsap High School ('23). As a senior, she averaged 15.0 points and 4.9 rebounds, leading the team to a 3A State #19 Ranking. She was recognized as the Kitsap Sun Girls Basketball Player of the Year and received a First Team All-Conference selection. Personally, she enjoys music and thrifting. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23.
