IRVINE, Calif. — The Jessup University Women's Volleyball team was defeated on the road Saturday afternoon, falling to Concordia University Irvine in three sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-22) at CU Arena. The loss moves Jessup's overall record to 6-10 and their PacWest conference record to 1-4.
The Warriors totaled 26 kills as a team, finishing with a .097 hitting percentage for the contest. CUI's offense proved too strong, finishing the day with 41 kills and a .255 hitting percentage. Emma Wegleitner led CUI with 11 kills and a total of 13.0 points.
The Warriors fought hard, especially in the third set, which saw 11 tie scores and two lead changes before the Eagles ultimately prevailed.
Jessup's offense was paced by Julia Olson, who led the team with eight kills and a respectable .357 hitting percentage. Eliana Sheridan was close behind, contributing seven kills and three digs.
Junior setter Kenzie Carpenter ran the offense, finishing the match with a team-high 19 assists, adding three kills on a .400 hitting percentage, and registering seven digs and three service aces. Defensively, the Warriors were led by Lauren Toon with nine digs, followed by Carpenter's seven and Jayden Santos's six digs.
The Warriors will look to bounce back as they return to Warrior Arena in their next contest on October 22nd at 7:00 PMagainst Vanguard University.Â
