LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Jessup Warriors men's soccer team traveled to Al Barbour Field and fell to the Biola Eagles on Thursday night, 0-5.
The Eagles' scoring was led by forward Ryan Ellsworth, who netted the first two goals of the night at 14:25 and 31:04. Lamar Mckenzie Jr. added the third goal at 33:12 before the break. In the second half, Luca McGreevey Couchman recorded two goals for Biola at the 72:28 and 83:11 mark to finalize the 0-5 scoreline.
Defensively, the Warriors contained Biola to 15 total shots, with Jessup goalkeeper Curtis Lynch registering 4 saves. The Jessup offense was limited to 8 total shots, 4 of which were on target, over the course of the match. The Warriors maintained 40% of the possession for the game. The loss moves Jessup's overall record to 1-5-2, and their conference record remains 0-3-0.
Head Coach Greg Lazaga commented on the night, "We are in a slump right now that we have to work out of. There were some good moments in the game but we as a team have to up our game, work rate and results." He continued, "We have a couple more difficult road games coming and have to look at it as an opportunity to show character and push forward to dig ourselves out."
The Warriors will remain on the road for their next matchup at Costa Mesa against Vanguard University on Saturday, October 4th.
