FRESNO, Calif. - Jessup University Men's Soccer (1-8-4, 0-6-1 PacWest) hosted the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds Friday afternoon in a back and fourth draw, 2-2.
The Warriors displayed incredible resilience and fighting spirit as the team battled back to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Fresno Pacific University in a PacWest matchup.
Fresno Pacific opened the scoring early in the meeting with a goal at the 9th minute mark from Brandon Lopez assisted by Chris Macias. It was not until the second half that the Warriors scored the equalizer from Jordee Magana at the 57th minute assisted by Blake Moore and Maximas Ganesh.
However, the Sunbirds offense intensified, reclaiming the lead with a goal at the 74th mark from Zion Vaughn assisted by Jacob Ramirez. With ten minutes remaining, Jessup once again tied the score as Luis Cruz found the back of the net at the 79th minute assisted by Jose Perez.
The score would remain till the final whistle as the two teams tied their PacWest meeting. In net for the Warriors was Alonso Ruiz, who had a successful five saves. One of which came from a penalty kick in which he made a diving save to prevent Fresno Pacific from tallying a goal at the 63rd minute. Head Coach Greg Lazaga commented on the team's performance, "Very proud of our group today. Down early but continuing to work and compete. Jordee again with our first goal of the day. Followed up by Cruz who was able to get us even"
Jessup's next matchup will be Wednesday, October 29th at home against UC Santa Cruz. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
