Jessup University Welcomes Daniel Zimmer as Assistant Athletics Director of Business Operations

ROCKLIN, Calif – Jessup University Athletics is excited to announce the addition of Daniel Zimmer as the new Assistant Athletics Director of Business Operations. Zimmer brings impressive experience across financial services, healthcare and managing multi-million dollar portfolios. 

"We're excited to welcome Daniel Zimmer to the Jessup Athletics family as our new Director of Business Operations," said Interim Athletic Director Scott Sorgea. "He brings a strong business acumen and a passion for excellence, teamwork, and integrity — qualities that define our department. We look forward to the positive impact Daniel will have on our student-athletes, coaches and the entire campus community."

Over the past decade, Zimmer has led territory growth initiatives, collaborated with multiple teams in order to drive efficiency and impact across many groups. Most recently, he served as a Practice Development Manager at Synchrony Financial. There, he partnered with over 360 medical practices across Northern California to implement strategic growth plans and improve financial performance. 

Zimmer earned a Masters of Science in Finance from Creighton University and a Bachelors in Art History from UC Davis. His analytical foundation and relationship-first mindset will complement Jessup Athletics in supporting coaches, teams and staff with clear financial processes, thoughtful compliance systems and a commitment to excellence behind the scenes. 

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, he currently resides in the Sacramento area with his wife and two children. "I feel blessed and honored to step into the role of Assistant Athletics Director of Business Operations at William Jessup University. This position allows me to bring together my background in financial strategy, account management, and operational leadership with my passion for supporting student-athletes and building systems that serve them well," said Zimmer.

He continued, "I am proud to now serve a university that values character, community, and purpose. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of Jessup Athletics and helping build a foundation that empowers our student-athletes to thrive."
