ROCKLIN, Calif. – Volleyball was on the menu for Tuesday night inside Warrior Arena. With two home matches remaining on the first schedule in program history, the Warriors pulled off a sweep of UC Merced to avenge a home loss the Bobcats back during the home opener.
The Warriors have taken down UC Merced twice this season. Following the home opening day loss, Jessup went into Merced on February 12 and took down the Bobcats in four sets.
With Tuesday's win the Warriors sit at 9-6 overall.
Jessup dominated Tuesday's match at the service line, finishing the match with 11 aces to Merced's two.
Taylor Marks led the way with four points at the service line, followed by
Jan Lopuch who finished with three.
Sydney Mathias added a pair of aces.
The Warriors also finished with an advantage in kills, totaling 38 to 22 from Merced.
Carter Depue led the way with 15 kills, doing so on a .650 hitting night.
Owen Henning also hit over .500, adding seven kills on a .556 performance. Lopuch hit .455 on six kills.
The Warriors grabbed the opening set in quick fashion, taking the opener 25-18. They followed it up with a 25-15 performance in set two and eventually closed the night winning the finale, 25-16.
Jessup now sits 4-1 in home matches with only one home date remaining which happens to be tomorrow.
Wednesday will be the first Senior Day in program history, with three seniors set to be honored before the 6 p.m. match against Simpson. The senior class on the 2025 Warriors includes
Logan Marks,
Taylor Marks, and
Sydney Mathias.
