Softball Exits HPU Series with 10-7 Loss

Sarah Giles blasted her 12th home run of the season; Reagann Hoblit finished 3-for-4 with two doubles

LINCOLN, Calif. – The third and final game of the Warriors' penultimate series of the season saw the Warriors come out on the wrong end of a 10-7 finish at Foskett. Thanks to one big inning by the visiting Sharks, Hawaii Pacific snuck out the win as the Warriors shift focus to their final opponent on the PacWest schedule.

Jessup claimed the first two games of the series yesterday to clinch a series win. The Warriors sit at 20-12 in PacWest action.

One big inning did the damage for Hawaii Pacific as they plated seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth. HPU batted around the lineup as 12 plate appearances were recorded in the inning.

The fourth-inning rally brought to an end Jazlyn Villavicencio's day. Villavicencio allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits across 3.1 winnings in the circle. Bella MacFarlane entered in relief and proceeded to allow two runs (none earned) on seven hits in her 3.2 innings.

Jessup got on the board in the second when back-to-back doubles from Kylie Nunes and Reagann Hoblit produced a run. Hoblit had the bat working in her favor on Wednesday as she finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Sarah Giles added to the scoring in the third with her 12th home run of the season, a two-run shot that leveled the score at three at the time.

The Warriors did not go down easy on Wednesday. Jessup scored in six consecutive innings and pieced together 14 base hits. But the rally was not to be.

Jessup will take their talents to San Francisco on Friday as the final series of the season kicks off with a doubleheader against Academy of Art. The series will shift back to Lincoln on Saturday for Senior Day.
