San Francisco Sweep Catapults Jessup into Senior Day

Jessup scored five in the final two innings of game one; Sarah Giles hit her 39th career home run in game two

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The first and final PacWest visit to San Francisco saw the Warriors grab two from Academy of Art on Friday. With Jessup back to their winning ways, the Warriors head into tomorrow's regular-season finale, having grabbed win number 30 of their inaugural Division II season on Friday.

Jessup sits at 30-21 on the season. At 22-12, the Warriors sit 3.5 games behind Concordia for first place in the PacWest.

The Warriors had to pull off a comeback in game one as the Urban Knights took a 3-2 lead into the late innings. Up for the challenge, Jessup gained the lead with three in the sixth. The rally began with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch from Olivia Dominguez. Maddy Ybarra then kept the line moving with a two-run double.

A wild pitch and another Ybarra RBI in the seventh gave the Warriors two more runs as they held on for the 7-4 finish.

Alexandria Himes earned the victory in relief of Jazlyn Villavicencio. Himes allowed one run on three hits across three innings in the circle. She is 10-8 on the season.

Ybarra led the Jessup offense with a 4-for-5 outing.

The Warriors were the first ones on the board in game two as another wild pitch and a sac fly gave Jessup a 2-0 lead in the second. Art countered with two of their own in the bottom half, but then, in the third, Jessup retook the lead as another wild pitch allowed Ybarra to score. Jessup's fourth run of the day off wild pitches came in the fourth as Hannah Aguilar trotted home.

Jessup tacked on their fifth run of the game in the seventh when Sarah Giles blasted a solo shot to left field. The home run is the 39th of Giles' Jessup tenure.

Bella MacFarlane logged a complete game in which she allowed three runs off two hits. She is now 13-7 on the season.

The series with Academy of Art will shift back to Lincoln tomorrow as Jessup will take the field for the final two times in the regular season. Saturday will be Senior Day, with the festivities beginning on the field at approximately 11:30 a.m.
