SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The 2025 installment of the Johnny Mathis Invitational was on the schedule for the Warriors this weekend. The two-day meet in San Francisco is the final tune-up for Jessup as they enter their first PacWest Championship in one week.

The visit to San Francisco was the second on the schedule for Jessup in 2025. Distance runners also toured the city earlier this month at the Mike Fanelli Invitational.

Competition began on Friday with the hammer and javelin.
Julia Pisenti was in the field for the javelin, and her mark of 40.43m placed her first out of the ten-athlete field. Pisenti continued her winning ways with a mark of 48.38m in the discus and 13.15 in the shot put on Saturday.

The throws also saw a pair of PRs set by
Derek Brown in the hammer (35.62m) and javelin (43.63m).
Aurora Osburn added a PR of 8.29m in the shot put.

Another first-place victory came on the track as
Gianni Miles claimed victory in the 100m with a time of 10.60. The race also saw a PR from
Kyjon Hughes with a time of 11.54.

Hughes later added a PR of 5.58m in the long jump.

Team scoring saw the Jessup men place third out of 11 teams and the women finish sixth out of 14.

The 2025 PacWest Championship is scheduled for April 25 – 26 from Fresno Pacific University. It will be Jessup's second competition in Fresno this season, as they competed in the Sunbird Invitational on February 22.
