NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The fifth edition of Jessup STUNT made its fourth nationals appearance on Thursday as the quest for a national championship got underway in Nashville. Drawing Trevecca Nazarene in their first matchup, Jessup put on a strong performance to advance in the winner's bracket.
Trevecca Nazarene drew Jessup after a win against Tiffin to start the day.
Jessup scored every available point in their 15-2 win. New to STUNT this season is the addition of a mercy rule during nationals. Once the scoreline becomes out of reach, the game is called. Thursday's game ended after one routine in the fourth quarter.
Thursday's victory makes Jessup 10-1 when competing at nationals.
The victory sends Jessup onward in the winner's bracket, where the second seed of Davenport awaits. Jessup and Davenport met once this season, a 19-8 win for Davenport during Jessup's trip to Oklahoma. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.
A loss to Davenport would place Jessup in an elimination game on Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
