ROCKLIN – After five years in a full-time role with his alma mater,
Matt Horrocks is stepping away from Rocklin to begin a new chapter in Riverside. Horrocks, Jessup's Sports Information Director, has accepted the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Digital Media at Division I program California Baptist University.
Horrocks, who rejoined the Warriors in a full-time role in October of 2022, is a 2017 graduate of Jessup with a B.A. in Public Policy. He continued his education by earning an M.A. in Sports Management through Jessup's online program, which he completed in 2020.
"
Matt Horrocks is a great example of a student who has not only become an alum, but a professional," said Jessup University President, Dr. John Jackson. "While we are sad to see him leave Jessup, we are grateful for his service here and wish him continued professional success at CBU, our 'small' sister school to the South."
In five years with the Warriors, Horrocks' work has been recognized nationally with first-place finishes in the CSC Digital Media & Design contest, CSC Fred Stabley Writing contest, and the NAIA-SIDA Publications and Media contest. He has sat on national committees, including the NAIA-SIDA Publications Committee and the CSC U Committee.
Horrocks' day-to-day duties with Jessup included serving as the primary media relations contact for Jessup's 18 sports, as well as managing game operations, athletics broadcasts, and ticketing. In the summer of 2024, he spearheaded the redesign of
www.jessupathletics.com, which included the launch of the official Jessup Athletics mobile app.
"I want to thank Dr. Jackson and the Jessup administration team for believing in me five years ago to rejoin this family," said Horrocks. "My coworkers here at Jessup have grown into great friends, and I will miss seeing each of them daily. I always knew it would take a lot for me to leave my alma mater. This opportunity to make the jump to Division I and join the CBU team was too exciting to pass up. While I am deeply sad to be ending this time with the Warriors, my family and I are excited to join Lancer Nation and begin this next chapter of our lives in Southern California."
Horrocks added, "These past five years, moving from the NAIA to Division II, have been a dream. Our final NAIA game was in the national championship round of the World Series, and my final game as Jessup's SID was an NCCAA national championship win. Now that Jessup will be postseason eligible, I will be able to watch as Jessup's biggest fan and cheer on every moment."
Cal Baptist is an NCAA Division I program located in Riverside, CA. The Lancers compete in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) but will transition into the Big West Conference at the start of the 2026-27 season.
Jessup and CBU share many similarities. CBU, like Jessup, once called the NAIA and the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) its home before transitioning to Division II and the Pacific West (PacWest) Conference.
"I have no doubt that Jessup will become a powerhouse in Division II," added Horrocks. "The sky is the limit for Jessup and I hope to one day see the Warriors make the next jump to Division I."
Horrocks, alongside his wife Cassandra (Jessup '18), their son Landon, and their dog Riley, will now begin this next phase of life. Jessup University wishes the Horrocks family all the best in this next chapter.
Jessup University will begin a national search to find its next leader of the communications team. Once posted, interested applicants can apply
