ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Warriors of Jessup University played on home court for the first time of the 2025 season on a Tuesday night. Jessup University's women's volleyball team christened Warrior Arena with a commanding 3-0 victory over UC Merced on their opening night.

Kyle Steele had some positive words on his team's performance, "I was very pleased with the progress we have made in just over a week. The freshmen keep getting better, and we are starting to take big steps in the right direction."
The Warriors showed their dominance from the start in front of a packed home crowd on 916 Day, presented by Placer Valley Tourism. Jessup started strong, taking the first set 25-20. They continued to apply pressure, winning the second set 25-19 and closing out the match with a 25-21 win in the third set.
Jessup's offense was powered by a stellar performance from
Kemyah Harris, who led the team with 16 kills.
Addisen Hamilton (12) and Elianna Sheridan (8) also helped lead the offensive powerhouse to the 3-0 sweeping victory.
The Warriors' defense was equally strong, with
Lainee McCune contributing four blocks and Hamilton tallying three blocks.
Kenzie Carpenter led the team with 12 digs and also orchestrated the offense with an impressive 35 assists. Harris also showed out defensively with nine digs on the night.
All together, the Warriors' team stats for the night were 45 kills, four aces, four blocks, 42 assists, and 39 digs, a testament to their balanced and effective play.
Jessup will hit the road to the 808 state for a set of games against Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade University. They will then return to the mainland to take on Menlo in Atherton before returning to home court on September 25th at 7:00 PM against Dominican University.
The home contest on the 25th will also be Teacher Appreciation night, where all teachers with a valid ID will receive free admission.
