VALLEJO, CA - Jessup University defeated Cal Maritime 12-0 in their opening match of the season at Bodnar Field in Vallejo, California. This was the first game of the season for Jessup, and a record-breaking one to start the season strong.
The team's 12 goals shattered the previous single-game record of 6 goals, which was set in a 6-0 victory over Lincoln in 2023. The 12-0 margin of victory is also the largest in program history. Jessup's 57 shots also represent a new single-game record, far exceeding the previous high of 33 shots in a 5-0 win over Pacific Union College.
A duo lef the team with a hat-trick each!
Mackenzie Wright scored in the 46th, 50th and 87th minutes of the match and
Mikayla Olariu scored three goals in the 38th, 50th, and 57th minutes.
With three goals against Cal Maritime, Wright and Olariu tied the single-game record for most goals with a hat-trick (3 goals) in the match. This ties the previous record held by
Kaylee Gillespie.
Evelyn Albor started things off with the first goal of the game in the 9th minute. Paulina Iniguez added to the goals tallied and added another in the 23rd minute. While rounding it out,
Abella Waterman contributed two goals, scoring in the 80th and 88th minutes and
