ROCKLIN, Calif. - The long-awaited home opener for the Warriors' men's volleyball team did not disappoint, as they debuted in front of a packed crowd at Warrior Arena. The atmosphere was electric as Jessup defeated the Redhawks of Simpson University with a final score of 3-1.
With this victory, Jessup improves to 3-4 on the season, having successfully defended their home court in dominant fashion.
The Warriors capitalized on that energy to secure a 3-1 victory over Simpson University, winning with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 23-25, and 25-12. Jessup's offense was firing on all cylinders during the first half of the match, posting an incredible .722 hitting percentage in the first set followed by a .654 mark in the second.
Although Simpson managed to fight back and claim the third set, Jessup regained total control in the fourth frame to seal the win. The Warriors' service game however proved to be a decisive weapon, as they tallied seven aces over the four sets.
Jonas Mueller spearheaded the Warrior attack with a team-high 12 kills and three service aces, finishing the night with 16.5 total points. Jan Lopuch was also a major factor at the net, contributing 10 kills of his own.
The offense was expertly directed by Colin Marks, who racked up 34 assists while adding seven digs and four kills to his stat line. Owen Henning provided additional support with seven kills and two service aces, while Clement Osahon Jr. dominated the defensive front with three blocks.
The Warriors will return to Horton Court February 17th for a matchup against Hope International University. Start time is set for 7:00 PM.
