Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Warriors Cruise Past Hope International in Home Sweep

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup men's volleyball swept Hope International at Warriors Arena on Tuesday night, 3-0, (25-18, 25-17, 25-17).

The Warriors hosted their second home game of the young season as they welcomed the Royals for an early week matchup. It was the inaugural meeting between the two sides as Hope International traveled to Northern California.

Early on, Hope International competed with the MPSF member in the first set. It was a one point game until a service error by the Royals put the Warriors up two, 5-2. The back and forth beginning was separated near the 15th point. Clement Osahan Jr. met the Royals at the end to smack down a point and sent the Warriors into the media timeout up four, 15-11. Jessup carried that momentum throughout the first set and did not look back. The Warriors won the first set by a commanding seven points, 25-18.

The second set was similar to the opening 25 points where Jessup grew their lead around the 15th point. At the 14th point, Jessup went on an unanswered six point run that started with a kill from Rayphe Froese, 20-13. At the 22nd point, Osahon delivered a service ace to help cement the second set as the Warriors won by eight, 25-17.

Kills from Owen Henning and Jake Jensen opened the third and final set. Service errors from Hope International plagued their third set as Jessup profited from the mistakes. The Warriors continued the pattern of the night as the team took strong control at the media timeout. The Warriors repeated the second set score and swept the Royals, 3-0.

Jonas Müller led the team with six kills and recorded a dig. At the net, Henning played an integral part with four block solos as he also collected a dig. Jan Lopuch was second in kills with five, had a block solo and block assist. From the service line, Osahon drilled two service aces.

Head Coach Kyle Steele commented after the game, "Great team win tonight, I am proud of the younger guys who came in and stepped up to play a big role. We play in this arena in a couple of nights and the team is excited to get back out there."

Jessup will have a quick turnaround as the team will remain home for their next matchup on Thursday, February 19th. The Warriors will host Pacific Union College with first serve scheduled for 7:00 PM.
