Senior Day Spectacular: Aurelio Breaks Three Point Record

ROCKLIN, Calif. – On an emotional Senior Day inside Warrior Arena, the Jessup University women's basketball team (9-19, 7-15 PacWest) sent their graduating class out in spectacular, record-breaking fashion, taking down Chaminade University (0-26, 0-22 PacWest) on Saturday afternoon to close out the 2025-26 campaign, 70-53.

Prior to tip-off, the Warriors honored their three departing seniors: #5 Andheya Aurelio, #12 Hailey Hoff, and #24 Raylyn Fergerson. The three were met with friends, family, coaches and teammates at halfcourt with gifts and flowers to honor their legacy as a Warrior. Once the ball was tipped, that veteran trio made sure their final time stepping off the home hardwood would be a memorable one.

The story of the afternoon was in no question as Aurelio caught fire from beyond the arc and delivered a Senior Day performance for the ages. The guard poured in a game-high 34 points on an incredibly efficient 11-of-21 shooting from the floor. Her stroke from deep wasn't just impressive; it was historic. Aurelio drained a staggering 9-of-15 attempts from three-point land, officially breaking the Jessup single-game three-point record.

The record was broken twice by fellow teammate, Hailey Hoff, just a few weeks back against the same Chaminade lineup in Hawaii. Aurelio also stuffed the stat sheet in other areas, adding four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in her 36 minutes of action.

Jessup set the tone defensively right from the opening tip. The Warriors held Chaminade to just seven points in the first quarter, building an early 13-7 advantage. The offensive rhythm continued to build in the second period, sending Jessup into the locker room with a comfortable 30-21 lead at the halftime break.

While the Silverswords kept pace in the third quarter, matching Jessup with 18 points, they were never able to seriously threaten the lead. The Warriors slammed the door shut in the final ten minutes, outscoring Chaminade 22-14 in the fourth quarter to easily coast to the 17-point victory.

Aurelio's fellow seniors also made sure to leave their mark on the game. Hoff chipped in 10 points and knocked down a pair of triples of her own, while Fergerson made her presence felt on the boards by securing eight rebounds and adding three steals.

The underclassmen also stepped up to send their veterans out on a high note. Laia Palà added 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, serving as a dynamic two-way presence. In the paint, Porter Wood anchored the glass, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds to go with 6 points. Claudia Jiménez contributed nicely with six rebounds and three assists.

Jessup's defense was a nightmare for Chaminade's ball-handlers all afternoon. The Warriors forced 18 turnovers and managed to convert those extra opportunities into 16 points.

The buzzer-to-buzzer victory gives the returning Jessup roster plenty of momentum to carry into the offseason, while giving Aurelio, Hoff, and Fergerson the perfect, record-setting capstone to their collegiate careers.

Head Coach Corey Laster praised his graduating seniors, "Congrats to Andy, what a way to go out. Her and Haley have been two of the better shooters in the league. Raylyn set the tone with her defense early. I'm so proud of all 3 seniors."

Jessup women's basketball has now concluded their 2025-26 campaign and will enter the off season. Head Coach Laster and the team now turn their attention to the 2026-27 season.
