HONOLULU, HI – The Jessup Warriors (9-8, 7-7 PacWest) finished their series at the Hans L'Orange Park on Monday with a loss to the Hawaii Pacific Sharks (8-9, 6-6 PacWest), 9-6.
Jessup wasted no time asserting themselves, exploding for four runs in the opening frame. The early fireworks were started when Tony Otis launched a ball to the left field for a two run blast, 2-0. A bases loaded walk and run scoring fielder's choice gave the Warriors an early 4-0 cushion.
The Sharks went to work in the third and fourth to tie the game at four apiece, 4-4. A Hall solo blast in the fifth regained the edge for the visiting Warriors, 5-4. However, HPU would retaliate yet again with a two RBI hit to take back the edge, 6-4. Hall had himself a day as he tripled in the game tying run in the top of the seventh to knot the game, 6-6. A late surge for the Sharks proved to be the difference maker as HPU took the final game of the series, 9-6.
Jordan Cezar started for the Warriors, pitching 2.1 frames and struck out two. Jason Riviello and Spencer Nelson came in for relief as Joey Miller was credited with the loss after the Sharks' seventh-inning lead change.
The Warriors' offensive effort was spearheaded by Quinton Hall, who finished the day 3-for-5 with a home run and a triple, accounting for two RBIs and a run scored. Tony Otis provided immediate support in the opening frame with a solo home run of his own, finishing 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Cody Antone proved to be a constant threat on the basepaths, scoring twice and drawing a walk, while Hunter Hirayama and Colby Pudge each contributed to the RBI total to round out the Jessup attack.
The Warriors will look to bounce back in a new series at Chaminade University. First pitch will be at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 6th.
