LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Warriors faced a formidable challenge on Friday night, taking on Southern California at the Galen Center. Despite a determined effort and several strong individual performances, the Warriors fell to the Trojans in three sets (13-25, 20-25, 16-25).
The Warriors now sit at 6-11 on the season as they continue their road swing through the MPSF.
The opening set saw USC jump out to an early lead, eventually securing a 25-13 victory. Jessup looked to find their rhythm in the second frame, which featured a more competitive back-and-forth battle including a tie and a lead change. However, the Trojans' net defense proved difficult to bypass, as they recorded seven blocks in that set alone to take it 25-20. In the final set, Jessup continued to fight, but Southern California's offensive efficiency sealed the match with a 25-16 win.
Jan Lopuch and Jonas Mueller led the Jessup attack, each contributing key kills throughout the night. Lopuch finished with 4 kills and 3 digs, while Mueller added 3 kills and 3 digs of his own. Clement Osahon Jr. and Owen Henning were also active at the net, each recording 2 kills and 2 blocks.
The Jessup offense was directed by Colin Marks, who tallied 13 assists and 5 digs. Defensively, Logan Marks anchored the backcourt with a team-high 7 digs and added 2 kills on two attempts. Riley Petesch contributed across the board with 2 kills, 2 blocks, and the team's lone service ace.
The Warriors will look for a comeback win tomorrow night again against the Trojans at 5:00 PM.Â
