HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Warriors clinched their first series win against the Hawaii Pacific Sharks behind explosive hitting and lights-out pitching. Jessup swept today's doubleheader, taking the first game 5-1 and dominating the second 15-2.
These two victories move the Warriors to 5-5 in conference play as they prepare for another series beginning Friday against Chaminade University.
Game one began in the top of the second with an RBI triple from freshman Kaiya Miller to put the Warriors on the board. Senior Neva Adams followed with a hit to drive in Miller, helping Jessup establish an early lead.
In the top of the fifth, Maliyah Lawson extended the margin to five runs with an RBI triple to center field. While HPU managed to scratch across one run in the bottom of the sixth, starting pitcher Korrie Almond shut the Sharks down the rest of the way to secure the 5-1 victory.
The bats stayed red-hot in game two as Jessup racked up 15 runs in just five innings, supported by a strong outing in the circle from starter Nohemi Livingston. Aaliyah Tinoco led the charge at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs and sparking the scoring in the opening frame.
After taking a 6-2 lead through two innings, the Warriors broke the game open with a massive nine-run fourth inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple from Alexis Vega.
Several Warriors contributed to the lopsided score, including Maddy Ybarra and Alexis Vega with three RBIs each, while Rebekah Beasley, Kaiya Miller, and Nohemi Livingston each drove in two.
Beyond the power hitting, Jessup remained a threat on the basepaths. Maddy Ybarra's performance moved her to the top of the leaderboard for the most stolen bases in the PacWest Conference.
The Warriors will look to carry this momentum into Sand Island this Friday and Saturday for the start of their series against Chaminade University.
