HONOLULU, Hawaii — The long road trip continued for the Warriors on Friday as they opened another PacWest series during their extended stay in Hawaii. Jessup split the pair, dominating game one 12-1 before losing a heartbreaker in walk-off fashion, 8-6, in game two.
The bats stayed hot for the Warriors as they racked up 16 hits and 12 runs in the opening game. The team's triple-hitting streak continued, sparked by a "triple rip" from Aaliyah Tinoco to open the scoring. Kylie Nunes followed suit with a triple of her own to drive in Tinoco. Reagan Hoblit then added an RBI single to score Nunes, giving the Warriors a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
Jessup's offense remained relentless, eventually pushing the lead to a final of 12-1. Tinoco and Nunes both finished the game with two triples apiece, highlighting a dominant performance from top to bottom in the Jessup lineup.
On the rubber, Evangelina Chavarria earned her second win of the season after four solid innings. Korrie Almond entered in relief to shut the door on the Silverswords; the duo combined to allow just six hits on the day.
Game two ended in frustration as Chaminade walked it off in the bottom of the seventh inning. Despite aggressive baserunning that pressured the Silverswords' defense and put the Warriors ahead late, a three-run walk-off home run sealed the split and handed Jessup an 8-6 loss.
Jessup returns to Sand Island tomorrow to conclude the series and their "808 road trip." The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM HST (2:00 PM and 4:30 PM PST).
