SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Weather played a definitive factor this weekend for Biola University and Jessup University. It was a constant fight against the elements, with lightning and rain stretching a four-game series from Friday through Sunday morning. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they fell in all four games of the PacWest matchup.
On Saturday afternoon, Biola and Jessup met for a doubleheader to conclude the conference series. Game three was a high-scoring affair, with the Eagles ultimately coming out on top 14-8.
Biola took a commanding 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning, shifting all momentum to the visitors' dugout. However, the Warriors answered back with six runs in the bottom of the second to bring the game within one. Despite multiple pauses in play due to rain and lightning, Biola's bats remained hot, securing the six-run victory.
In the series finale, Jessup managed to take a 2-0 lead through five and a half innings. With the Warriors ahead and looking to capitalize, the weather again halted play in the bottom of the sixth.
Both teams returned to American River College on Sunday to complete the final inning and a half. Despite having only nine outs left to defend a 2-0 lead, the Warriors could not hold off the Eagles. Biola staged an offensive surge to claim a 5-2 comeback win and complete the weekend sweep.
The Warriors face a quick turnaround, with another series against Azusa Pacific University set to begin tomorrow morning. Doubleheader action is scheduled for 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at American River College.
