ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Jessup University women's tennis team hosted Tuesday morning, falling 7-0 to visiting Stanislaus State at the Johnson Ranch Sports Club North.
Stanislaus State established early momentum by securing the doubles point. At the premier No. 1 flight, the Jessup duo of Briana Smith and Giselli Reschke battled but ultimately fell, 6-1. The story was similar at the No. 2 spot, where Rylie Maloney and Danielle Akabane fell 6-1 to Stanislaus. The visitors also claimed the No. 3 doubles match by forfeit.
Moving into singles play, Stanislaus State continued their strong performance to complete the sweep. At the No. 1 singles spot, Briana Smith traded games early in the second set but was eventually overpowered, dropping the match 6-1, 6-2. Giselli Reschke had a tough assignment at No. 2 singles as she dropped 6-0, 6-0.
At the No. 3 flight, Rylie Maloney fell to her opponent 6-0, 6-2. Rounding out the contested singles flights, Danielle Akabane worked hard to extend rallies at the No. 4 spot but dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision.
Stanislaus State claimed the final two points of the day, winning the No. 5 and No. 6 singles flights by forfeit.
The Warriors will regroup as they look forward to their season finale at Menlo College on Saturday, April 11th. First serve will be at 11:00 AM.Â
