IRVINE, Calif. – In a midweek matchup in SoCal, the Warriors traveled to CU Arena to take on the Golden Eagles of Concordia University Irvine for an MPSF contest. Despite a strong opening set victory, the Warriors were unable to sustain their momentum on Thursday night, falling to Concordia University Irvine in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 14-25, 18-25) at CU Arena.
The Warriors came out firing in the first set, showcasing an efficient offensive clinic while. Jonas Mueller and Clement Osahon Jr. spearheaded the attack during this frame, leading Jessup to a narrow 25-23 win to take the early match lead.
The tide turned in the second set as CUI's defense intensified and the Golden Eagles' block began to find its mark. After dropping the second set 19-25, the Warriors struggled to regain their footing in the third as CUI capitalized on a series of Jessup errors to take a 2-1 match advantage with a 25-14 win.
In the final frame, CUI's offensive efficiency proved to be the difference as the Golden Eagles closed out the match with a 25-18 victory.
Jonas Mueller led the Jessup offense with 14 kills and one service ace, while Jan Lopuch contributed 8 kills and two solo blocks. Clement Osahon Jr. recorded 7 kills, and Colin Marks orchestrated the offense with 32 assists.
In the hunt for a win against CUI, the Warriors will return to CU Arena tomorrow night for another matchup with the Golden Eagles at 6:00 PM.
