Freshman Jacobus Brakkee finishes stellar freshman campaign at NCAA Regionals

05/10/26

STOCKTON, Calif. This week, Freshman Jacobus Brakkee represented the Warriors at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional, hosted at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, California.  For Brakkee, the regional championship carried extra meaning, as the Tracy native competed close to home on a course he grew up playing. With family and friends in attendance throughout the week, the experience made the opportunity even more special for the freshman.

The NCAA West/South Central Regional featured some of the top Division II programs and individuals in the country, with schools from the Lone Star Conference, Great Northwest Athletic Conference, California Collegiate Athletic Association, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and PacWest Conference all battling for a chance to advance to the NCAA National Championship in Boulder City, Nevada.

Brakkee earned his spot in the regional after an outstanding freshman campaign that established him as one of the most consistent players in the region. During the spring season, he recorded top-25 finishes in six of seven events, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Dominican Spring Invitational and a third-place finish at the PacWest Men's Championship.

Throughout the tournament, the freshman displayed poise across all three rounds, embracing the challenge while staying committed to the same process that fueled his success throughout the spring season. Brakkee opened the tournament with a first-round score of 75. Followed by posting a second round 76 in windy conditions. The freshman then closed the tournament and season with a one-under-par 71, finishing the week at six-over-par overall. His final round, which finished in red figures, featured multiple early par saves and was highlighted by a birdie on the demanding par-4 17th hole, which is part of The Reserve at Spanos ' tough finishing stretch.

The Regional served as the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign for the Warriors, with Jacobus Brakkee making history as the first golfer in program history to qualify for an NCAA Regional Championship. His performance capped off a historic season for both the freshman and the Warriors program, closing the year with momentum and excitement for the future of Jessup golf.
