Ybarra and Lawson Earn First-Team All-PacWest Honors

05/04/26

ROCKLIN, Calif. - Following a stellar 2026 campaign that saw the Jessup University softball team secure a spot in the PacWest Conference Championships, two Warriors have been recognized among the conference's elite. Maddy Ybarra and Maliyah Lawson were both named to the All-PacWest First Team, capping off dominant regular seasons that fueled Jessup's high-powered offense.

Ybarra, earning First Team honors at second base, was an absolute force at the plate all season long. This marks her second consecutive First-Team All-PacWest selection, adding to a heavily decorated resume that already includes being named the 2025 PacWest Player of the Year and a three-time conference Player of the Week.

The senior finished the regular season hitting an impressive .400 with a staggering 1.135 OPS. She proved to be the ultimate dual-threat, driving in a team-high 43 runs with six home runs while simultaneously wreaking havoc on the basepaths. Ybarra led the entire PacWest Conference in stolen bases, successfully swiping 40 bags on 43 attempts. She also racked up 60 hits, 11 doubles, and five triples, making her one of the most feared bats in the Jessup lineup.

Lawson, earning First Team honors in the outfield, was the perfect sparkplug for the Warriors. She finished the regular season batting .375 with a .992 OPS and consistently set the table for the offense. Lawson's speed and aggressive baserunning were on full display, as she finished right behind Ybarra for second in the PacWest in stolen bases with 30. She also paced the Warriors in runs scored (46) and triples (7), adding 57 hits and a pair of home runs to her resume. Defensively, she was flawless in the outfield, boasting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Together, Ybarra and Lawson formed a dynamic duo at the top of the lineup, combining for an incredible 70 stolen bases and 90 runs scored. Their historic offensive production was a key catalyst in Jessup's 25-22 overall record and 20-14 mark in conference play.

With All-PacWest honors officially in hand, Ybarra and Lawson will now look to carry their momentum into the postseason as the Warriors prepare to take on top-seeded Concordia University Irvine in the opening round of the PacWest Championships in La Mirada.
