ROCKLIN, Calif. - Jessup Women's Volleyball dropped a Pacific West Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Arena, falling to Biola University in straight sets (25-15, 25-10, 25-13). The loss drops the Warriors to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in PacWest play, while Biola moves to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference competition.
The Eagles controlled the rhythm throughout both halves of play, executing an efficient offensive system that finished with a .420 hitting percentage across all three sets. Biola set the tone early in the opening set with 14 kills while hitting .406, standardizing an attack led by Payton Tully, who finished with a match-high 11 kills on .611 hitting. Jessup put together its most productive offensive rhythm during the first set, recording 12 kills on 38 total attacks (.158). However, Biola pulled away in the second and third frames, holding the Warriors to 5 and 7 kills respectively with a .000 hitting percentage in set two and .071 in set three.
Despite the defensive pressure from Biola's front line, several Warriors posted strong individual efforts. August Stys led the Jessup offense, tallying a team-high seven kills while attacking at an impressive .375 efficiency. Setter Kjersti Jacobson anchored the rotation with a double-double effort, distributing 22 assists alongside a team-high nine digs. Outside hitter Jayden Jones contributed five kills and five digs, while Mia Rivera added four kills. Defensively, libero Lillian Smith notched five digs, and Jenna Kraft anchored the backline with six digs.
Reflecting on the match, head coach Taylor Jacky emphasized the importance of consistency and growth as the Warriors navigate early PacWest play. "Biola played a very clean, disciplined match today, and they put a lot of pressure on our defense right from the start," said Jacky. "We saw some really great individual efforts, especially from
August Stys on the attack and Kjersti Jacobson managing our floor, but we need to put together longer stretches of execution as a group. Every PacWest match gives us a chance to learn and adapt, and our focus now turns to resetting and bringing high energy into practice this coming week."
Jessup will look to bounce back when they return to Warrior Arena for another PacWest home matchup, hosting Westmont College on Saturday, September 19 at 3:00 PM.
