BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Jessup men's golf finished 14th of 15 teams at the WWU Invitational, posting a team score of 24-over across two rounds at Bellingham Golf and Country Club. The tournament, hosted by Western Washington, was cut short when heavy overnight rain left the course unplayable and organizers canceled the final round.
Braden Armstrong led the Warriors, tying for 19th individually at 1-over (even par, +1).
Job Damen was next best, tying for 41st at 5-over (+1, +4), followed by
Jacobus Brakkee in a share of 53rd at 7-over (+2, +5).
Nick Chavarin tied for 70th at 11-over (+5, +6), and
Paolo Castaneda rounded out the Jessup lineup in 78th at 15-over (+6, +9).
Host Western Washington ran away with the team title at 14-under, finishing well clear of second-place Colorado Christian (7-under) and third-place UBC Okanagan (3-under). Simon Fraser (1-under) and Chico State (3-over) rounded out the top five. Jessup's 24-over finish placed the Warriors one shot behind the tied-for-12th Fraser Valley and Saint Martin's (both +23) and two shots ahead of last-place Montana State-Billings (+26).
Individually, Colorado Christian's Bradley Mulder won at 10-under, two shots clear of Simon Fraser's Nathan Widjaya (8-under). Western Washington's Daniel Blankenburg took third at 7-under.
The quick turnaround continues for Jessup, which next heads to Monterey, Calif., for the RCA Electric Invitational at TPC Monterey at Pasadera on Oct. 4-5.
