Back-to-Back Wins Against Mills Locks Warriors at 7-7

Box Score OAKLAND, Calif. - Warriors take back-to-back wins against Mills College this week to prepare for a conference matchup against Menlo College Saturday. On the road Jessup defeated the Cyclones 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-9).

It was a slow start for the Warriors coming out in the first set, but with a little motivation and pep talk Jessup came into their own starting off with a win.

"We started off a little sluggish and then quickly pumped up as the match went on," said head coach Shasta Millhollin. "Great team effort heading into our match against Menlo."

The Warriors took the second and third set with ease recording double-figure kills in all sets. The killer attacks at the net were led by returners, Makenzie Reeder-Sparza (9) and Kassidy Heuvelhorst (5), and freshman Taylor Jacky (5). Jessica Williams came up strong with 30 assists and sophomore transfer Claudia Diaz recorded 13 digs.

"We came together as a team today and enjoyed the game of volleyball," said Millhollin. "The girls worked hard to refine some of our new plays and it turned out to be a wonderful night!"

Improving to 7-7 the Warriors have surpassed last season's wins (6), which is also the most wins since the 9 win season in 2010.

"Overall the program has a much tougher mentality this year and we believe that we have what it takes to beat anyone," Millhollin said.

The Warriors take on Menlo, Saturday at 3pm in Warrior Arena where Jessup looks to improve conference 1-3 record and The Oaks are looking to seal their first conference win.
