ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Golden State Athletic Conference announced the 2017 women's volleyball All-GSAC Conference Team with sophomore setter Jessica Williams nabbing a slot in the top-14 in the conference representing the Warriors.

This is first recognition for the program since joining the GSAC. Williams led the conference in total assists (1140) while averaging 9.91 assists per set in her 115 game outing this season. Nationally the Chandler, Ariz. native was ranked in the top-30 for total assists (28th) and assists per set (33rd).   

Having coached Williams since the 7th grade, head coach Shasta Millhollin knows the talent she possesses and her potential, "To lead the GSAC in overall assists and assists per game is a huge feat.  I? knew when she was younger that she would go on to accomplish a lot, what I? didn't know is that God would bless me again by being her college coach with the opportunity to see her dreams become a reality."

In just her second season, the solo setter in the rotation has a lot of responsibility but has shown no signs of that job taking a toll. Williams has inked her name in the record book for Jessup volleyball in multiple categories so far in her career. She set the single-season record for most assists by over 300 and now has the first place slot for her 2017 outing and the second place slot for her 2016 campaign last season with 774 total assists. Adding those two seasons together, Williams has already set the program career record for assists with 1,914 total.

"Many people don't realize the hard work and dedication it takes to be a setter in a 5-1 offense.," Millhollin reflected. "It requires a tremendous level of physical fitness, split-second decision-making skills and a great deal of patience. Besides all that, as a coach, I expect a lot from my players."

With two seasons ahead of her, Williams has accomplished much but looks to accomplish even more in the coming years.
