Women’s Soccer Earns the Shutout

Terrific teamwork gives Warriors the advantage

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors were home again as they faced off against San Diego Christian College Hawks. The battle ended in victory for the Warriors, 2-0, and took their record to 5-8 overall, 1-3 in GSAC.

The Warriors were pushed into defense for the first 20 minutes of play, but Cassidy Gray found a hole in the 28th minute, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Gray's goal came off of a corner by Alexia De La Paz and an assist by Rachel Roberts. It was Gray's second goal of the season. The remainder of the first half had the Warriors and Hawks locked into a tight back and forth struggle with neither able to score again.

The second half found the Warriors and Hawks in a similar fight. The Warriors and Hawks were in a tight competition until Isabel House scored the final goal of the game, unassisted in the 66th minute, 2-0. She sent it flying from far left directly to the right post. It was I. House's second goal of the season. The remainder of the game continued in a constant back and forth struggle until the end.

Head coach, Rachel Constantini, reflected on the goals, "We had a lot of great moments today that we were able to turn into on-frame opportunities. Today's goals were fought for, the girls stayed calm and kept pushing until they found the back of the net."

Camille Cavey was in goal for the Warriors and had five saves, giving her 55 saves on the season. Katie Worley led the team in shots with five, two of which were on goal. She was followed closely, however, by Roberts, Janelle Schuette, Madison Leonhardt, and I. House.  They each took three shots, of which the majority were on goal.

The Warrior's had 21 shots overall, with 11 on goal while the Hawks had 10 shots overall, with five on goal. Jessup drew five fouls to San Diego Christian's four.
The Warrior's determination was showcased in Constantini's reflection on the match, "I was very happy with how we possessed and moved the ball around the field as a team. As we move deeper into conference play, this team's confidence continues to grow."

Jessup will travel to Arizona for a match against Arizona Christian University on October 11th at 5:30 PM, followed by a match against Ottawa University on October 13th at 10:00 AM.
