SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Taking on the second-highest ranked opponent in the conference, the William Jessup women's soccer team traveled to Westmont College for their first GSAC meeting of the 2018 campaign. The No. 10 Warriors would take an early 2-0 lead into the break and extend the lead 5-0 to conclude, but Warriors'
Camille Cavey had an impressive 9 saves between the posts for Jessup, tying her career-high.
Head coach
Rachel Constantini reflected on the conference opener, "We had a tough showing today. A series of unfortunate injuries put us in a difficult spot but the girls battled every minute of the game. We had some decent looks on goal but couldn't get momentum on our side. The girls are ready for Hope, they are ready for redemption."
It wouldn't be until the latter half of the first 45-minutes of play that Westmont would get their first goal in the 23rd minute, and then the second in the 43rd minute heading to halftime. In Westmont's 10 shots to start, Cavey grabbed three saves in the opening half.
But she didn't stop there. Cavey went on to grab six saves in the final half to total her career-high 9 saves set earlier this season against Oregon Tech.
Westmont would add a trio of goals in the second half while the Warriors had a pair of good looks, but were unable to find the back of the net.
With a rest day on the horizon, the Jessup Warriors will hit the pitch next on Saturday facing Hope International at 12 pm.
