ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Jessup women's basketball team steamrolled their way to a 93-27 victory over Bethesda University in the season opener back on Halloween. Next up on the schedule, the competition intensifies as the Warriors embark on a road trip to take on the University of Nevada, Saturday, November 28 at 2 PM.
Tough Competition Ahead
With the Golden State Athletic Conference schedule set to begin in early January, the Warriors are taking full advantage of their current situation. Playing against stout competition at the NCAA D-1 level allows Jessup a chance to prepare for what will be many hard-fought battles once conference play begins.
Along with this matchup against the Wolfpack, the Warriors will also face Sacramento State, Cal Baptist, University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, Southern Utah University, and the University of Utah Valley.
Looking At Nevada
The Wolfpack have their season opener against the University of San Francisco on Friday, just one day before they play Jessup. Last season, Nevada finished with a 15-16 record and went 7-11 in the Mountain West Conference. Their season ended at the hands of Fresno State in the quarterfinal of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
The Nevada roster has a new look to it as they have seven new players, six of whom are freshmen. Altogether, of their sixteen-player roster, ten are underclassmen.
A Word From Coach Planells
Head coach
Hernando Planells relishes this opportunity for his team, saying, "I'm excited about heading to Reno." He continued with, "We're going to continue growing closer as a team while playing a very talented Nevada team!"
Jessup matched up with Nevada a season ago in an exhibition contest.
Aycee Willis had a phenomenal performance leading the Warriors with 17 points. Also in double-figures was then senior
Creonah Bryant with 12 points.
