ROCKLIN, Calif. – A record weekend on the court has been recognized at the conference level. After helping to lead the Warriors to two wins this weekend, junior
Taylor Dilley has been voted the GSAC Attacker of the Week.
Ecstatic when he heard the news, Head Coach
Tiger Shelton spoke about Dilley's work ethic. "Taylor deserves this because she works hard. She works so hard to get where she is at. She has been hurt, she hasn't felt good, but she still comes and brings it all the time."
Dilley has been productive on the court for the Warriors all season, but her best performance came in Friday's five-set thriller in which she recorded a Jessup record 24 kills. It was the fourth match of the season in which Dilley has tallied 20 or more kills.
Shelton added that the credit does not fall solely on the shoulders of Dilley and that even she would agree. "She is always supportive of her teammates, and if you ask
Taylor Dilley, the first thing she would say is I couldn't do this without my teammates."
Just one night after her record performance, Dilley again helped pave the way to victory as her 22 kills against Life Pacific finished as the second-most in program history for a four-set match. Her 249 kills this season are already making noise, as they are the seventh most all-time for any Jessup Volleyball season.
"She puts the ball away," added Shelton." She works really hard at that. Our conference is not easy. We have really good blockers and teams that block really well against us. Without the people around her doing what they do, it makes it easier for them to open up blocks for what she does. She's an amazing kid, and she works hard."
The 2021 season is the third for Shelton leading the Warriors. This is the first GSAC Player of the Week award for the Jessup Volleyball program under his leadership.
Dilley first made a statement with the Warriors on August 28 when she tallied 20 kills against Southern Oregon. A week later, against the then-ranked No. 3 Midland University, Dilley again tallied 20 kills. She is currently on a streak of three consecutive matches with 20-plus kills, as she finished with 22 on October 2 at The Master's University.
The Warriors are on a three-match win streak and will look to push it to four on the road this Saturday at Menlo College. Jessup is currently two games behind OUAZ for first place in the GSAC.
