CARMEL, Calif. – The fall season continued for Jessup Golf this week as the Warriors visited one of the top golf destinations in the world, Carmel. Competing in Menlo College's Pacific Coast Highway Invitational, the Warriors saw continued growth on the course from several members of the team.
Leading the Jessup women once again was reigning NAIA All-American
Gurman Kaur-Knight. After ending her first round in a tie for third, Kaur-Knight shot a two-over 73 on Tuesday to take second place out of the 29-player field.
For the Jessup men,
Jacob Sawaya finished T13 to lead all Warriors. Sawaya shot a four-over 75 in the opening round on Monday, followed by a round of six-over 77 on Tuesday. It is the best individual finish of the season for Sawaya.
Other members of the Jessup men's team competing this week included
Joseph Mintmier (T23),
Dominic Salomone (28),
Drake Kovaly (30),
Rex Rollins (T37), and
Karson Heeter (T37).
The Jessup men's team finished in seventh place.
Rounding out the field for the Jessup women was
Mackinzie Uribe (T24),
Hailey Morton (28), and
Irene Logan (29). Jessup's women finished in fifth place as a team.
Winning the tournament on both the men's and women's sides was Menlo College. Menlo's Catherine Batang took home first place with a two-round score of six-over. Carter Anderson of Hope International took the individual title in the men's competition.
This week's competition was the final tournament scheduled in the fall for the Warriors. Currently, Jessup is scheduled to return to the course on February 7 when they visit La Purisma Golf Course in Lompoc, CA, for Westmont College's Warrior Invitational.
