Tolson Adds Three New Players Ahead of a New Season for Women’s Tennis

Three incoming freshmen look to help this program which is entering its fourth season

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Another year for the Jessup Women's Tennis program is set to begin shortly. With a new coach at the helm, year four for this program sees three incoming freshmen added to the lineup as the Warriors look to continue building a top-tier program.

Head coach Chris Tolson is in his first season leading the squad. On the team he has entering the year, Tolson said, "We have a good mix of returning players with new incoming players, which will help us be more competitive in our matches this year."

Danielle Akabane | Colégio Anglo Prudentino

Coming to William Jessup University via Sao Paulo, Brazil, is freshman Danielle Akabane. Akabane has been playing tennis for ten years, and at the high school level with Colégio Anglo Prudentino, she finished as a regional finalist on two occasions.

Akabane will study Business at Jessup, with plans to start an internship in the Silicon Valley after finishing her studies. Off the tennis court, Danielle enjoys socializing with her friends and listening to music. She chose Jessup because of its location in California, the professors, coaches, and friends.

Nicollet Alexander | Heritage HS

Antioch native Nicollet Alexander joins the Warriors after recently graduating from Heritage HS. The freshman played four years of tennis at the high school level, winning the Bay Valley Athletic League championship all four years.

Alexander is studying Criminal Justice at Jessup. She enjoys traveling, hiking, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She chose to attend Jessup because of the potential she saw with the growing tennis program and help the team succeed.

Sydney Page | River Homelink HS

Coming to Jessup from Battle Ground, WA, is freshman Sydney Page. A four-year high school athlete, Page excelled on the court and in the classroom, being named a Scholar-Athlete. Her team competed in the district playoffs all four years.

Page plans to study Public Policy, with career goals of entering the sports law field. When not playing tennis, Page enjoys swimming, playing golf, and reading. The opportunity to play collegiate tennis is what led her to Jessup.

The women's tennis program is entering its fourth season and first under Tolson. The year is set to officially begin on January 29 when the Warriors visit Fresno Pacific University. The first match at Lifetime Fitness will be against Holy Names on February 4.
