Men's Basketball Move to No. 6 in the Latest NAIA Coaches' Poll

Warriors pieced together a 3-1 record over the last two weeks, including a road win against Hope International

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The biweekly NAIA Coaches' Poll has once again been released, and for the fifth time this season, the Warriors have a new spot in the rankings. After a 3-1 record over the last two weeks, the Warriors move to No. 6 in the nation.

Jessup's new spot is two positions back from their previous ranking of No. 4. At 21-2 overall, 9-2 in the GSAC, the Warriors continue to produce the best regular season to date in the program's history.

The Warriors picked up victories over OUAZ, Hope International, and San Diego Christian since the release of the previous poll. The lone loss, coming against Arizona Christian, snapped a 13-game win streak that lasted 56 days.

The motto of the Warriors throughout the season has been to improve game-by-game and always to see the next game on the schedule as the most important. Head Coach Lance Von Vogt touched on this last week in a postgame interview.

"For us, every game is the most important. The next game is always the most important game of the season."

"Regardless of winning or losing," Von Vogt added, "what you're going to do is you're gonna go back to the film, you're going to get into the details, you're going to correct the mistakes, and you're going to work hard to get better. You're going to trust the process of improvement."

The Warriors do have two chances at redemption upcoming, starting this week when Vanguard visits Warrior Arena on Saturday. The Lions handed Jessup their first loss of the season, 86-73, back on November 18.

Jessup also gets another crack at Arizona Christian, this time on the road, when the Warriors visit Glendale on February 10.

Arizona Christian remains at No. 8 in the latest rankings. Hope International jumped from No. 18 to No. 17. Just three teams from the GSAC received votes in Wednesday's poll.

The 9-2 mark in conference has the Warriors in a two-way tie for first place with Hope International. However, due to the Warriors sweeping HIU throughout the regular season, Jessup owns the tiebreaker, giving them first place outright.

Jessup will put their new ranking to the test tomorrow night as Life Pacific comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. tip. In their previous meeting, LPU took the Warriors to double OT.
