RENO, Nev. – The fall season got underway over the weekend for the Jessup women's tennis program as the Warriors took part in the Wolf Pack Invitational. With six Warriors competing, Jessup took on competition from the NCAA ranks as they get ready for the spring season.
Jessup is entering year five of tennis and year two under head coach
Chris Tolson. The Jessup men were in competition last week in Oregon to start their second season.
Competing in Reno for Jessup was Jessica Holbea,
Aysha Hayes, Isabelle Rietz,
Stephanie Alsman, Grace Sepe, and
Danielle Akabane.
Doubles play began with a noon matchup that saw Hays and Holbea team up to take on Mariana Campino and Audrey Moutama of the University of Nevada. The Warriors lost the match 6-2. Alsman and Rietz were next on the scoresheet with a 6-0 loss to Anastasia Lineva and Mathilde Sarcelet of Nevada.
Singles action saw Hayes fall in two sets to Latesha Grant of Holy Names. Rietz and Varnara were also in competition in singles action against players from Holy Names, both ending in two set losses as well. The Warriors also saw singles competition against Nevada and Stanislaus State.
The Warriors will next be in competition on Friday, October 14, when they take part in the West Valley College Invite in Saratoga. Jessup will wrap up the fall season in the UC Santa Cruz Invite on October 29.
