Carrillo and Gillespie Earn All-Conference Honors

Gillespie earns her second All-GSAC spot after scoring seven goals; Carrillo started all 17 matches, earning his first all-conference selection

ROCKLIN, Calif. – It's a big week for GSAC Soccer, as the conference announced the All-GSAC teams early this week. While Jessup's season may have ended Saturday in Santa Clarita, for two Warriors, there is reason to celebrate their accomplishments on the pitch.

After phenomenal seasons, Donovan Carrillo and Kaylee Gillespie have been selected to the All-Conference team.

Gillespie, a sophomore, came into the season as the reigning GSAC Freshman of the Year. Her head coach, Amsalu Fantahun, spoke highly of Gillespie from day one, stating, "Kaylee is the best player in the conference. I'll do my best to push her to her maximum potential and performance."

The 2022 season saw Gillespie continue to light up the GSAC, scoring seven goals while dishing out three assists for a 17-point season. In two years with the Warriors, Gillespie's 18 career goals are already the third most in program history.

It's Gillespie's second selection to the All-GSAC team.

For Carrillo, a junior, the honors are the first of his career. The third-year player started all 17 matches for the Warriors this season, wearing the captain's armband as a leader on this Jessup squad.

A staple in the midfield, Carrillo averaged over 82 minutes per match this season. He ended the year with a bang, scoring his first collegiate goal in Jessup's 4-2 loss at The Master's University.

Both Jessup soccer programs entered the final week of the season with an opportunity to clinch a spot in the GSAC Tournament. While their seasons may have met an end, there is optimism throughout Jessup that the 2023 campaign will be one to remember.
