Warriors Put up a Good Showing at the Kim Duyst Invitational

New PRs were set all around in the first full outdoor meet of the season; Jessup will compete next weekend at UC Davis

TURLOCK, Calif. – Jessup officially got the outdoor season underway this weekend as they took part in the two-day Kim Duyst Invitational at Stanislaus State. The weekend saw countless PRs from the Warriors, both men, and women, as they continue to work towards a successful 2022 season.

In the men's 200m, Kamil Jones took seventh with a time of 22.79. Jones competed in four events this weekend, as he also ran in the 400m (52.80), the 4x100m relay (44.52), and the 4x400m relay (3:38.32).

Jessup's male 4x400m relay team took tenth in a field full of talented runners across the NCAA and NAIA ranks.

In the jumps, Hunter Hughes led the Warriors in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.65m. Peter Constant led the Warriors in the long jump with a mark of 5.86m.

Over to the throwing events, Jacob Richmond took tenth in the javelin with a throw of 36.08m. Richmond also competed in the discus (33.70m), shot put (12.31m), and hammer (foul).

In the women's field, Eleanor Kania continued her debut Track & Field season, competing in three events this weekend. Kania posted a mark of 4.26m in the long jump, a new PR. She also finished fifth in the women's 4x400m as her team posted a time of 4:19.48.

Julissa Casillas set a new PR in the women's 100m as she ran a 13.45, beating her previous PR of 14.07 that she set in March of 2021. Casillas was also on the 4x400m relay team with Kania.

Jayden Jackson was in action this weekend, setting a new PR in the long jump with a mark of 4.77m. Jackson competed in several events for the first time with the Warriors. She ran in the 200m (27.91), 100m hurdle (17.08), 4x400m relay, and threw the javelin (24.32m).

Azalea Prince competed in just one event this weekend, the 5000m, but like many of her teammates, she set a new PR in the event. Prince shatters her time from last year's GSAC Championship as she ran at 18:31.35, besting her PR by 33 seconds in a fourth-place finish.

Throwing events saw Michelle Flint and Jessica Pedretti finish in the top three in the shot put. Pedretti set new PRs in the shot put (11.97m), discus (37.75m), hammer (35.19m), and javelin (30.71m).

It was a successful weekend for the Warriors as a whole, starting with Rachel Travis' All-American finish Friday in Brookins, SD. Jessup will next be in competition on March 11 for the Aggie Open at UC Davis.
