Women’s Basketball Falls to UC Davis in Exhibition

Jessup was taking on their second Division I program of the season; The Warriors return to their regular schedule on Saturday against Southern Oregon

DAVIS, Calif. – With finals ongoing at Jessup University, the Warriors got a break from the stress of coursework as they visited Davis for an exhibition with the UC Davis Aggies. Taking on their second DI foe of the season, the night went the way of Davis, as the Aggies claimed the victory 79-40.

For the Aggies, now 3-5 on the season, Tuesday was an official contest on their schedule. They will host Saint Mary's on Sunday. Jessup remains 6-1 on the year.

Guard Andrea Jovicevic led the Warriors in scoring as she connected on 6-of-16 from the field, totaling up to 14 points. Natalie Moulos finished 2-of-6 from distance as she added eight points in 22 minutes off the bench.

It was the first time Moulos appeared off the bench this season, as the Warriors have turned out the same starting five in all seven games this year. Makaila Napoleon was the newcomer in the lineup, as she totaled five points on 2-of-8 from the floor.

Jessup ended the night shooting 25 percent from the field.

Tuesday was Jessup's second exhibition against DI competition this year. Jessup kicked off the season by beating Sacramento State 51-44 in an exhibition inside the Hornets Nest. UC Davis toppled the Hornets 79-57 in their Causeway Classic showdown on November 21.

Head coach Corey Laster, now in his third season with the Warriors, used Tuesday as an opportunity to spread out the minutes. Laster called on 13 Warriors to see game time, all of which totaled at least five minutes on the court.

The Warriors will resume the regular season on Saturday when they welcome Southern Oregon to Warrior Arena. Horton Court has been a welcome sight for the Warriors this season, as Jessup sits 4-0 and is averaging 85 PPG in home contests.

Each of the Warriors' next three games will be in Rocklin before they depart for four games on the road to wrap up 2023. Tickets for the homestand are on sale HERE.
