2026-27 Jessup Warriors Women's Basketball Season Preview

Looking Back: A Record-Breaking 2025-26 Campaign

09/25/26

ROCKLIN, Calif. - Jessup finished last season 9-19 overall (7-15 PacWest), but the record book tells a richer story than the ledger does. Head coach Corey Laster became the winningest coach in program history, clinching the mark with a 65-63 win over Bushnell in the home opener at the Bill Holtz Classic, and Hailey Hoff broke the single-game three-point record twice; Andheya Aurelio broke it a third time on Senior Day while scoring the second-most points in a single game in program history.

With Aurelio and fellow senior Raylyn Fergerson now graduated, Jessup turns the page to a roster blending that returning experience with new faces, led forward Porter Wood (10.6 points, 6.8 rebounds) and defensive stopper Claudia Jimenez, who led the team in steals.

Coach Laster is optimistic about how that mix is coming together, saying, "We are excited about the opportunity in front of this year's team. We have a good blend of returning experience and new energy, and the group has shown a willingness to learn, compete, and improve together."

The Warriors open the year with exhibitions against UC Davis on November 2, followed by a true road test at Nevada on November 10. The regular season then begins in earnest at the CCAA/PacWest Challenge in San Rafael, where Jessup faces CSU Monterey Bay and Menlo on back-to-back days, before the team returns home to host its own Bill Holtz Warrior Classic against UC Merced and Fresno Pacific. Laster points out that the non-conference slate carries real teeth this year, with matchups against Stanislaus State, Chico State, and a home-and-home with Fresno Pacific all designed to sharpen the team before conference play begins.

"Early exhibitions against UC Davis and Nevada will help prepare us before our regular season begins November 13 at the Bill Holtz Classic, where we will face CSU Monterey Bay and Menlo. Our schedule also features strong matchups with Fresno Pacific, Stanislaus State and Chico State before a challenging PacWest slate,"  Laster summarized.

Once PacWest games start in early December, Jessup will look to avoid the losing streaks that derailed last season, particularly against Point Loma and Biola, two teams that beat the Warriors twice apiece a year ago, including a gut-wrenching 65-66 home loss to Biola. Menlo carries its own storyline after last season's rivalry classic, when Jessup erased a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to win 68-64; the two teams meet again early, at the Bill Holtz Classic, before a rematch later in the year. Rounding out the schedule are Dominican, Concordia Irvine, Westmont, Chaminade, and a return trip to Hawai'i for games against Hawai'i Hilo and Hawai'i Pacific in January.

If last year's late-season surge of broken records is any indication, this group has shown it can rise to big moments — the challenge now, as Laster put it, is doing it "consistently" over a full season.  With fresh energy, as Laster emphasized, and a non-conference slate built to sharpen the team before PacWest play begins, there's real reason for optimism that 2026-27 is the year Jessup turns those flashes of brilliance into sustained, week-to-week success.
