ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Day has come and gone for the Jessup Women's Basketball program, and it was a quick one as Jessup honored just one senior in 2023. The gift they gave her was a victory, as Jessup takes down OUAZ 68-54 to keep their GSAC Tournament hopes alive.
Jessup, now 9-7 in conference play, are still battling things out with Arizona Christian for the sixth and final spot in the tournament.
The lone senior on the Warriors this season was
Jennifer Pedretti. Pedretti, wrapping up her third year on the Warriors, got the start and ended her final appearance on Horton Court with six points and four boards over her 18 minutes of action.
Head coach
Corey Laster spoke about Pedretti, noting, "She put a lot of hard work into the game, and it's her last home game, but obviously we want to extend our season for her. But we don't want to overlook all that she has done here, it was great being able to celebrate her.
Having a huge night off the bench Saturday was
Emily Dikdan. In 13 minutes of action, Dikdan scored eight points and brought down a team-leading eight rebounds. Both were season-highs for her.
Natalie Moulos led Jessup in scoring with 11 points, while
Kayla Vieira finished just bhind her with ten.
The Warriors shot 43 percent from the floor in the victory, knocking down only two triples in the process. Defensively, Jessup help OUAZ to a 35 percent showing from the floor.
Jessup will need every win they can get, and it does not get very easy from here. The Warriors will embark on the final road trip of the regular season next week, starting with The Master's University on Thursday.
The regular season ends one week from today when the Warriors square off with No. 2 ranked Westmont.
