Dallas Trip Starts with Two Wins for Team Three

Jessup took down the University of Kentucky 16-9 to start the day; The Warriors will be in action twice tomorrow

DALLAS, Tex. – The defending NAIA STUNT National Champions hopped on a plane bound for Dallas this week as the next test for Jessup STUNT kicked off on Friday. Taking on DI competition, the Warriors seemed unphased as they dominated their way to a 2-0 day.

With the action taking place at Dallas Baptist University, the Warriors are set to compete four times this week, with two coming against some of the top schools in NCAA athletics.

Before the season began, head coach Alexis Blunk spoke about this week before the season, noting, "This year, our goal is to go out there and play those big Division I schools, and not just play them, but we want to beat them. We know we can hold our own in the NAIA now. So we want to keep moving up."

The first opportunity came bright and early as the Warriors squared up with the Kentucky Wildcats. Thanks to a dominating first half, the Warriors moved to 2-0 as they took down the Wildcats 16-9.

Jessup started the match scoring 3-of-4 in the first quarter, giving them an early 3-1 lead. The scoring continued into the second, pyramids and tosses, as the Warriors swept the board to move their advantage up to 7-1.

Kentucky climbed back into the game in the third, jumps and tumbling, scoring three to set the score line at 8-4. But the fourth was all Jessup as the Warriors outscored UK 9-5 to pick up the win.

Team Three, as coined by their head coach, continued their day against St. Mary's University of Texas. In a game that was more one-sided than the first, Jessup moved to 3-0 with a 21-4 romp.

The Warriors scored the first ten points of the contest before St. Mary's was able to get on the board with routine two in quarter three. Leading 10-2 entering the fourth quarter, Jessup had sights on another big victory.

Jessup scored 11 of a possible 12 points in the fourth, with their only loss coming on the third point awarded to routine three.

The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow as they wrap up the Dallas trip with contests against Texas Woman's University and Texas Tech. The action from Dallas can be streamed online HERE.
