SURPRISE, Ariz. – Spring break is coming to an end, and for the Warriors, that also means an end to their spring break road trip. Taking on OUAZ from Surprise, Jessup set a new milestone for the program as they won 5-2, securing the first regular season conference win in men's tennis history.
The trip was an overall success for the Warriors. Competing four times, Jessup went 3-1, with victories coming over Cal Lutheran, Whittier, and OUAZ.
Saturday's outcome improves the Warriors to 5-6 on the season. With 2023 being just the second year of the program's existence, the Warriors have made drastic improvements from a 1-13 campaign a year ago.
Jessup swept doubles play on Saturday, winning all three matches to secure one point.
Roger Wen and
Kadyn Silva were victorious 6-4, followed by
Austrebeto Carlon/
Sam Smith and
Tanner Sitanggang/
Isaac Graves, who all picked up 6-3 victories in their matches.
Wen won again in singles play, taking down OUAZ's Goor Adiv (6-2, 7-6) in straight sets. Smith also earned a straight set victory (6-2, 6-3) in his match, topping Noah Koeroessy. Graves would also win his match over Saul Bautista in two sets (6-2, 6-4).
Jessup now gets to rest for two weeks as their next match comes against Westmont on March 18 in Santa Barbara.
