ATHERTON, Calif. - Jessup University men's tennis team traveled to Atherton on Monday afternoon to face off against Menlo College. The Warriors earned a couple of impressive victories in singles play, but they were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 5-2 to the Oaks at the Cartan Tennis Courts.
Menlo set the tone early by sweeping the doubles competition to secure the opening point of the match. At the No. 1 flight, the Jessup pairing of Joren Stevens and Leo Pham battled but fell 6-2 to their Menlo opponents. The No. 2 duo of Caleb Poling and Tanner Sitanggang fought hard but were downed 6-3. Rounding out doubles at the No. 3 spot, Henrique Levy and Lucas Pham also dropped a 6-3 decision to the host team.
Facing a deficit as singles play began, the Warriors found a spark at the top of the lineup.
At No. 1 singles, Joren Stevens delivered a thrilling comeback victory. After dropping the first set 6-4, Stevens gritted out a tense 7-6 tiebreaker win in the second set before ultimately clinching the match with a clutch 10-6 victory in the decisive third-set tiebreaker.
Jessup secured its second point of the day thanks to a dominant performance by Lucas Pham at the No. 2 flight. Pham controlled the pace from the first serve, dispatching his counterpart in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, Menlo proved too strong through the remainder of the singles flights to secure the overall team victory. At No. 3 singles, Leo Pham suffered a tough 6-0, 6-0 loss, while Tanner Sitanggang competed at No. 4 singles but was bested 6-1, 6-2.

In the final tiebreaker, however, his opponent outlasted Poling 10-3 to claim the point for the Oaks. Finally, at the No. 6 flight, Henrique Levy fought hard but fell 6-3, 6-0 to close out the day.
The Warriors will look to build on the bright spots from their top singles players as they continue their 2026 season and search for their next team victory.
