SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Jessup University men's tennis was defeated on Saturday afternoon at Sacramento State, 7-0. 

The match opened with Sacramento seizing the momentum early in doubles play. The Warriors' top duo of Joren Stevens and Mario Curiel fought at the No. 1 spot, but the Sacramento pairing eventually pulled away to secure the match, 6-2. Sacramento carried that momentum onto courts two and three, defeating Tanner Sitanggang and Caleb Poling, 6-1, as well as Lucas Pham and Leo Pham, to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles action, Sacramento completed the 7-0 sweep by taking all six flights.

At the premier No. 1 flight, Joren Stevens showcased his resilience. Dropping the first set 6-0, he showed grit in the unfinished faceoff 4-4 to end the first slot. At the No. 2 spot, Mario Curiel scrambled well to keep rallies alive and put pressure on his opponent, but Sacramento's precision kept the Warriors from getting on the scoreboard, 6-0, 5-2.

In the middle and lower halves of the lineup, Jessup struggled to crack Sacramento's defense. Leo Pham (6-2, 1-2, UF) and Lucas Pham ((1-6, 0-6) dropped their No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Poling and Sitanggang fell in their No. 5 and No. 6 matchups. 

Jessup will look to shake off the loss and bounce back quickly. The Warriors return to their home courts in Rocklin for their next matchup, where they will host Westmont College on April 2nd at 11:00 AM.
