SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The final match away from Rocklin has come and gone, as the Warriors fell 4-0 to Dominican on Saturday in San Rafael. With three matches remaining in the 2024 season, the Warriors have the comfort of knowing all remaining games will take place on their home turf.
Now 14 matches into the first NCAA Division II season in program history, the Warriors walk into the final three contests of the year with a record of 2-8-4.
Head coach
Greg Lazaga said after the match, "We got off to a poor start with the penalty call and turnover for goals early. We generated opportunities against them but struggled in transition. It was not our best day, and we will move on from this one quick."
Dominican converted a penalty 11 minutes into the match and 60 seconds later made it 2-0 when a Jessup turnover resulted in the subsequent goal. The Penguins' two additional goals came later in the second half.
Jessup registered 11 shot attempts in the match, with just two firing on frame.
Isaac Morfin and
Eduardo Guillen had the two looks on goal.
Goalkeeper
Maxx Willard finished with five saves in 77 minutes of action. He was replaced by
Alonso Ruiz, who wrapped up the match with the final 12:30 of game time.
The season shifts back to Rocklin now, starting with an October 30 meeting with Academy of Art. After that, it will be Senior Day, as Concordia will come to town on November 2 for the annual day of celebration for the senior class. The regular season wraps up against Azusa Pacific on November 7.
