NAMPA, Idaho. – Jessup hit the road for the first time, officially, this season, as they began the first of two games in Idaho. With Central Washington on the schedule Friday night, Jessup suffered their first loss of the season, 85-63.
The Warriors are now 3-1, having opened the year with three straight wins inside Warrior Arena. The only contest Jessup played away from Rocklin so far was an exhibition at the University of the Pacific.
Leading the scoring in the loss was redshirt freshman
Cayden McDaniel with 15 points. McDaniel finished a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe, adding a 5-for-12 showing from the field.
Ja'Maris Blackmon finished behind McDaniel with a dozen points on 3-of-9 from the floor. Blackmon also added five free throws.
Aydan Janssan and
Tamatoa Humbert, who made his first start of the season, added nine each.
Central Washington was paced by a huge night from Garrett Anderson, as he dropped 39 points in his 35 minutes of action.
The Warriors shot 35 percent from the floor and saw an improvement in their free throw shooting from recent games as they connected on 77 percent from the line. CWU shot an even 50 percent (30-for-60) from the floor.
Friday was the first-ever meeting between Jessup and Central Washington, and tomorrow another first-time meeting awaits the Warriors. Jessup will square off with Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, with tip-off coming at 6 p.m.
