Warriors Roll Past Dominican for Second Consecutive PacWest Win

Four Warriors finish in double-figures; Jessup hosts Menlo next week in the final home game of 2024

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors have won again, as a 79-62 victory against the Dominican Penguins has Jessup off to a 2-0 start to the conference slate. Backed by four Warriors in double-figures, Jessup dominated from the jump to pick up their fifth home win in six attempts.

Jessup was hot off the jump, as an 11-0 first-half run had them on top by 13 less than ten minutes into the game. The first-half pressure kept up, leading to the intermission, where the Warriors entered the locker room leading 42-29.

The Warriors shot a blistering 58 percent (18-of-31) in the opening 20 minutes, and their shooting performance kept up in the closing half, with the Warriors knocking down 57 percent from the floor.

Jessup scored the first bucket of the game on Saturday, a Wyatt Studer jumper, and then never trailed, as the best Dominican could do in the 40-minute matchup was even the score at 2-2.

The largest lead of the night for Jessup came with 20 seconds left in the contest when they sat ahead by 20 points.

Four Warriors led the offensive production on Saturday, with Aydan Janssan leading the way with 18 points on 8-of-15 from the floor. Troy Crighton provided a spark off the bench with 15 points in his 28 minutes of action.

Head coach Mark Darnall spoke on Crighton's production after the game, noting, "We're always asking our guys to make the most of their minutes when their number is called, and Troy answered tonight. He's been in this spot before, so we knew what to expect of him. Everybody found a way to contribute tonight. We were down a few players with injuries, so to only have ten guys suit up on the bench, it was a collective effort."

Jessup also saw scoring from Studer (13) and Curro Segura (10). Segura also dished out seven assists.

The rebound battle saw Jessup pull down 40 boards to 32 by the Penguins. Anthony Enoh led the charge with 13; and five of them coming on the offensive end.

Jessup is now 2-0 to start the PacWest season, with both of those victories coming at home on Horton Court. The Warriors now sit at 5-3 on the year.

"Obviously, we're happy with the 2-0 start," added Darnall. "I'm just proud of this group. It was a big-time win and another proof that our guys can execute a game plan. They just did a great job of that tonight, so we have to try and carry that over."

The home slate continues on Thursday when the Warriors welcome Menlo College to Rocklin for the final home contest of 2024. The Warriors and Oaks are scheduled to battle at 7:30 p.m., and the Jessup heads to Southern California for a meeting with Vanguard on December 21.
